Alaskan Dream Cruises

The Dream

TRUE ALASKA WITH TRUE ALASKANS

Experience the true Alaska

Alaskan Dream Cruisesare designed to experience the Alaska less traveled. Our itineraries reach the more remote, spectacular, and wilder country of the Alaskan wilderness. To that end, we spend little time in traditional cruise ship ports and more time in those places that offer extraordinary scenic qualities, historical significance, and abundant wildlife. We also strive to provide opportunities to experience the rich cultural aspects of the Greatland.

True Alaskans with intimate local knowledge

Alaska is the spiritual homeland of the Allen Family, owners and operators of Alaskan Dream Cruises. As descendants of First Nations tribes of the Pacific Northwest People and members of the Kaagwaantaan Clans of the Tlingit people, the Allen family roots are deep in Alaskan soil. They are delighted to share their culture as well as their unbridled passion by offering invaluable insider’s knowledge to Alaskan Dream Cruises’ guests.

Up close and personal with wildlife and natural wonders

Wildlife and Alaska are synonymous. Visitors to Alaska come to enjoy and observe our abundant natural wonders. We are dedicated to producing significant wildlife viewing opportunities for our guests. Our yacht sized vessels brings the visitor up close and personal with the country, the wildlife, and the everyday people of Alaska

Alaskan owned,  supplied and supporting local businesses

We utilize local companies whenever possible for supplies and services and wherever possible for our off vessel excursions in various port calls. We maintain a strong bond with and respectful sensitivity toward indigenous residents of the areas we visit.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

We believe sustainable tourism practices include use of local resources, green practices and procedures, use of organic materials and foods where practicable, an educational component to our tours. We believe in sensitivity to the wildlife, the land, the sea, and the people that occupy them. We walk softly on the land we visit.

We tread lightly

Alaskan Dream Cruises gears much of the itinerary toward wildlife viewing opportunities where wildlife is typically present. However, we recognize that wildlife can be negatively impacted if not viewed in a sensitive manner. Allen Marine Tours and Alaskan Dream Cruises willingly observe all federal and state agency guidelines and regulations regarding sustainable and sensitive wildlife viewing and have even self-imposed more rigorous wildlife viewing procedures.

Environmentally responsible operations

Organic and locally produced products are utilized in our selections of guest room amenities.  We minimize the use of chemical cleaners and soaps as much as possible preferring to use cleaners and soaps with organic and biodegradable materials. Paper products and service items such as cups, glasses, trash bags, etc. biodegradable and made from organic materials rather than oil products wherever possible. A strong recycling program is in place.

Organic, local food

Alaskan Dream Cruises weight menus to locally caught wild Alaskan seafood and organic food products. Alaska is justifiably famous for its excellent seafood, and we feature locally caught crab, halibut, shrimp, and of course wild Alaskan Pacific salmon. Free range chicken and eggs, organic dairy products, grass fed beef, and organically fruits and vegetables locally grown and purchased wherever possible highlight our menu selections. We even feature local beer and alcholic products in our bar selections.

Good for All

Alaskan Dream Cruises strongly embraces the concept of sustainable tourism as the best business approach to maintaining the unique wilderness integrity of Alaska. Operating in such a manner is good for Alaska and good for the Earth.

History

Allen Marine Tours, a Native owned and operated Alaskan family business, is one of Alaska’s oldest and most respected tour businesses.  Begun by Bob Allen as a boatbuilding business in Sitka, Alaska, Allen Marine expanded into the day tour boat business in the 1970’s.  Building on a successful business plan, Allen Marine Tours has grown to encompass three tour divisions in Sitka, Ketchikan, and Juneau with over two dozen day tour vessels in operation in summer, and numerous charter and contract operations in winter.  Allen Marine Tours acquired the satellite tour operations of Orca Point Lodge in the Juneau area in addition to its marine oriented businesses.  In addition to its extensive tour division, Allen Marine continues to build custom vessels and operate a vessel repair facility in Sitka, completing an order for several high speed passenger ferry vessels for the New York City Transit Authority.

Allen Marine Tours is a decidedly Alaskan business.  Founded in Sitka, Alaska, its corporate headquarters remain in Sitka.  Allen Marine Tours operates only within Alaska relying on locally hired employees and utilizing local business for most of its requirements.   Alaska is the spiritual homeland of the Allen Family, descendants of First Nations tribes of the Pacific Northwest People that have enjoyed a complex, highly sophisticated culture on the Pacific Northwest Coast for perhaps 8,000 years.  Members of the Kaagwaantaan Clans of the Tlingit people, the Allen family roots are deep in Alaskan soil.  Proud of their Alaskan Heritage and deep ties to the land they are delighted to share their culture as well as their unbridled passion for Alaska with visitors, especially guests on their various tour enterprises.   Following the retirement of his father Bob, David Allen today guides Allen Marine Tours.

The opportunity to enter the multi-day overnight tour genre of Alaska tourism presented itself to Allen Marine Tours in the summer of 2010.  Allen Marine Tours incorporated Alaskan Dream Cruises into its various tour enterprises and excitedly prepares its product launch.

The Vessels

Alaskan Dream Cruises launches its inaugural cruise season beginning May 14, 2011 with 8 day, 7 night itineraries for two vessels.   A third vessel will be used for special charters or groups.  Tour itineraries operate once weekly departing and arriving Sitka, Alaska on Saturdays through September 3, 2011.

The Alaskan Dream

The Alaskan Dream accommodates 40 passengers in beautiful and generously proportioned guest cabins, all of which feature extra large viewing windows, a television with DVD player, all the standard amenities, and luxurious artwork and furnishings.  Four classes of guest cabins are available ranging from standard to luxury suites.

The Vista View Lounge located forward on the first level boasts full length forward facing windows and side window for 180 degree viewing.  Comfortable furnishings and a full service bar encourage relaxing, conversation, or just enjoying watching the spectacular Alaskan scenery drift by.  A reference library, interpretive displays, and large screen television with DVD player offer additional entertainment and educational possibilities.  The dining room is aft on the lower deck.

Built by the Nichols Brothers shipyard at Whidbey Island in Washington, the Alaskan Dream was built specifically to operate in Southeast Alaskan waters.  Its catamaran hull and streamlined visage provides the ideal design for navigating the narrow, sometimes ice choked inlets, channels, and passageways of Alaska’s famous and spectacular Inside Passage.  She offers the luxury and amenities of a larger ship.  Faster than the average tour boat class vessel, she cruises comfortably at 14 nautical miles per hour.  A large, partially covered viewing deck tops the third deck allowing 360 degree covered viewing of wildlife and scenery.  Deck chairs and tables are provided for relaxing cruising with a full view.

The Admiralty Dream

The Admiralty Dream accommodates 78 passengers with guest cabins on three decks, all of which have picture windows, private baths, and luxurious amenities and artwork.  Three classes of guest cabins are available.

The Forward Viewing Lounge, located on the mid level deck, is richly furnished and a full service bar provides guests the perfect place for comfort and relaxation.  Vista view windows give guests an opportunity to enjoy the scenery and view wildlife from the comfort of an indoor location.  Like the Alaskan Dream, the Lounge offers a reference library, large screen television with DVD player, and interpretive displays for guest entertainment.  The dining room is aft on the lowest deck.

The Admiralty Dream cruises at a comfortable 9 nautical miles per hour.  Slow cruising allows for terrific viewing opportunities both for wildlife encounters and the magnificent Alaskan Inside Passage scenery.  Staterooms, Lounge, and dining room are configured on three decks.  The Admiralty Dream is a veteran cruiser of Alaskan waters having been in the market for several seasons.

Outside viewing areas are well designed and numerous.  Access to the bow area from the Forward Viewing Lounge provides guests an outstanding 180 degree forward viewing area.  Outside walkways on second and third decks on both sides of the vessel provide covered outdoor viewing to the side of the vessel.   A partially covered outside deck aft on the third level, furnished with deck chairs and tables provides a covered area for relaxing as well as a 180 degree aft viewing area.

The Baranof Dream

The Baranof Dream accommodates 78 passengers with guest cabins on three decks.  A sister vessel to the Admiralty Dream, the Baranof Dream is quite similar in cabin, Forward Viewing Lounge, dining room, and outside viewing space.

Alaskan Dream Cruises will begin accepting reservations for the 2011 season mid-November.  Prices vary from $4,500 depending on guest cabin designation and vessel.  A single supplement is available.  Prices include meals and included shore excursions.
